Our Classes
December 10th, 2009 by admin

Alter Ego is a  non production acting group run by 3 professional Drama facilitators - Jo, Caroline and Gemma - by ‘non production’ we mean that the work we do in class is not generally performed outside the classroom. I.e we are not an am-dram group, instead we learn about drama and acting skills in a ‘workshop’ scenario; touching each week on all areas of performance, building a tool kit of skills with which you can face the world! Many people have said how the classes have helped them in everyday life, at work and at home. It can build confidence, co-ordination and mental agility- but most importantly it is a fun relaxed class made up of ordinary people who have an interest or passion for drama and acting.

The kinds of things we work on in class can include character building, mime, role play, movement, maskwork, improvisation, devising, approaching a script, stage craft, voice work and so much more. Sometimes we work on a project for several weeks so that we also can experience the feeling of working towards something, but often each class is different and we, as facilitators, take it in turns to teach each class which makes for great variety as we are all very different in teaching style and expertise.

Come and join us next term. No experience necessary, just enthusiasm and energy!
